Eighteen year old Christine Mbomo winning the 200 metres at the
Ivo van Damme Diamond League meeting in Brussels. The Olympic
200m silver medallist won in 21.84 seconds, just short of her World
under 20 record time that she had set at the Tokyo Olympic Games.
In 2021 in Bydgoszcz, Poland, she set another world under 20 record,
for the 400 metres, of 48.54. Christine has elevated testosterone levels
due to a naturally occurring genetic condition and under World Athletics
rules cannot compete in races over 400m.
Her Olympic medal was the first ever by a Namibian women athlete.
