Forgoing the opportunity to try and win a second 1,500m title at a European Championships
(winner in 2014) Sifan Hassan, the bronze medallist over 5,000 at the 2017 World Championships,
opted for that longer race in Berlin , at the 2018 Championships and was rewarded not only with the gold
medal, but also a new Championship record of 14:46.12 seconds. See is pictured above setting the record.
