Jakob Ingebrigtsen looks across the track as he is about to win the men's 1,500 metres final
at the 2018 European Championships - at just seventeen years of age ! To add more sensation to the occasion
his older brothers Henrik Ingebrigtsen and Filip Ingebrigtsen, both of whom had won gold medals at the European
Championships in the 1500 metres event, were actually competing in the race. The race was very tactical with the
three brothers in control for much of the race. The pace was not an issue, as Jakob had run a 1500m in 3:31.18 the
month before, winning was the objective. Achieved ! But was the plan for the kid to win ?
In May 2017 Jakob becoming the first 16-year-old to run under four minutes for the mile,
running a sensational time of 3:58.07 on the second day of the Diamond League meeting
at Hayward Field in Eugene. Ignore the fact he finished 11th in the race !
