PLEASE CONSIDER BECOMING ONE OF OUR PATRON SUPPORTERS.
www.sporting-heroes.net would appreciate your help.
Financial support with a light touch, for which we will show real appreciation.
We will acknowledge the financial support you are giving us by ‘promoting’ you
on our front page and on the top of every one of our photos pages. There are
over 27,000 of them. The cost ? To you, a modest £150 per month, but to us a
secure future. Partrons are our best means of securing sporting heroes' future.
Here is our ideal scenario.
We attract five Partrons each of whom will compliment one another and in co-operation
lift all our on-line profiles. Each Partron will be given a prominent button on
the front page and a button on each of the photo pages.
They all are live
and each of the 27,000 will link through to our partrons' own web site. The buttons are jpegs,
but we will change or rotate them every week or as agreed.
Our Partrons in turn mention on their web site what Sporting Heroes is all about and that
Sporting Heroes is delighted to have received their support. However, we do not want support
at any price.
Like Wikipedia and the B.B.C. we do not want ‘flash-bang-wallop-in-your-face’ adverts
disfiguring our site,; even though ‘Advertising’ might be the obvious solution. We could
have sold our soul to the sports mad gambling industry years ago. We think our idea is
a more subtle solution. Social media options we will leave to our Patrons.
Photos are our forte: not forums.
Here’s your ‘excluse’.
How you might rationalize your financial support is flexible: a heritage project, supporting
the Arts (photography is an art form), worthy cause, perhaps even helping an ageing population:
George is 74 (and not too proud to ask for your helping hand).
He loves his work - expanding and improving Sporting Heroes - but has been inclined to overlook
the running cost. Not so much his time, he gives that willingly, but the travelling expenses.
Sporting Heroes was started by George Herringshaw in 1999 with the ambition to record for
posterity every sportsman and sportswoman of significance he and his staff photographers
have photographed since 1970 and up to the present day. Thus far there are over 14,000 individual
sports stars and 40,000 (+) images on sporting heroes. With his 50th year as a professional
sports photographer fast approaching his monumental task is proving to be ‘financially challenging’,
as the euphemism would have it. So a little help is needed to support the project which he sees
as much as heritage, as informative and entertainment.
Advertiser, Benefactor, Donor, Partner, Patron, Supporter, Sponsor, Philanthropist ?
Or just in love with sport.
