A happy Anita Wlodarczyk at the conclusion of the 2014 women's hammer championship in Zurich
where she established a new championship best performance and won the gold medal.
Two weeks later, in Berlin on Sunday August 31st., Anita Wlodarczyk broke the hammer world record,
at the ISTAF meeting in the Olympic Stadium with a throw of
79.58m.
It broke the mark of 79.42m which Betty Heidler had set in 2011.
Wlodarczyk, 29, won the world title in this same venue (Berlin) in 2009.
