Defending champion Pedro Pichardo lost his Olympic title to Jordan Diaz, just as he
had a his European Championships, a few weeks earlier.
In Paris it was by just two centremetres but in Rome in was 14 cm. Their clash in Rome
was a far more impressive event. A National record for Pichardo but a Championship record for Diaz.
