The pictures above show Mariya during the final of the women's Javelin at the
2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. She produced a terrific performance to win
the silver medal with a new national record throw of 70.78m.
Eight years after the competition, the IOC retested samples from the event.
Mariya Abakumova tested positive for dehydrochlormethyltestosterone (turinabol)
and was disqualified, stripping her of the medal.
