Armand Duplantis clears the bar at 5.92m on his third attempt (!) and is set to battle with
Sam Kendricks for the title of World Champion.
Both then cleared 5.97m - each on their third attempt - but the American had by then taken
fewer failures and was crowned champion. Duplantis could be called American having been born
in Lafayette, Louisiana, U.S. His mother Helena is Swedish, his father Greg is American.
In February 2020 Armand set a new World Indoor Record of 6.17m in Poland and
then a week later in Glasgow he improved it to 6.18m.
He earned $30,000 for the record in Glasgow.
On 17th. September 2020 Armand finally broke the 1994 outdoors World Record
of Sergey Bubka with a vault of 6.15m (20.18 feet) at the Diamond League
meeting in Rome.
