Allyson FELIX - U.S.A. - 2007 World Championships triple Gold medals.

The top right photo above shows Allyson Felix (centre) flying towards the line to win gold in the final of the womens 200m at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka. The bottom inset pictures show the moment as the brilliant young American crosses the line in a time of just 21.81 secs, thus defending successfully the title that she had won two years previously in Helsinki. Allyson's lightning quick time was the first occasion that she had run sub 22 seconds for the 200m and, such was the ease of her victory, it was the largest winning margin in a womens 200m final at a global championships since the London Olympics way back in 1948!

The bottom left inset photo shows Felix looking composed just prior to the start of the final whilst the top right picture shows her in full flow during the heats. Of her 200m gold Felix later commented: "This race was really special. I have been at 22-seconds for as long as I can remember and to work so hard this year, after not being so great last year, and to win the title at the same time, it was fantastic. I was so focussed on my goals. I do not do it for the attention, just for the challenge. I feel like I am using my talent to the best of my ability and it really showed. To have it happen tonight was definitely the plan." This victory would prove to be only the start of the gold rush for Allyson; she would go on to strike gold in both the 4x100m and 4x400m relays to show what a hugely gifted and versatile athlete she really is.
