Defending Olympic champion Brittney Reese saved her longest jump in Rio 2016
to her 6th and final attempt, but it was not quite far enough to dislodge Tianna Bartoletta
who had cleared 7.17 on her 5th jump.
A consolation of sorts was the fact she had won the 2016 World Indoor Championship
in Portland in March with a jump of 7.22 - just 1cm short of her U.S.A. record.
