Bryan CLAY - U.S.A. - 2005 World Champs Decathlon Gold (result)

Bryan is pictured above during various stages of the Decathlon at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki. Clay produced a fine overall performance to win the gold medal with a total of 8732 points. Such was the comfort of Bryan's victory that he was able to stroll round in the 1500m, the final event of the competition, in a time of 5: 03.77 and still finish 211 points clear of the silver medal winner Roman Sebrle. Clay had PBs in the Shot Put, the 400m and the Javelin and can be seen in the middle inset picture showing his appreciation to the crowd after his final throw of 72.00m in the Javelin. The top picture shows the American leading Sebrle in the 110m Hurdles whilst the main photo shows him shortly after the finish of that race. A happy Bryan can be seen in the bottom picture enjoying a lap of honour.
