On 22nd July 2016 Kendra Harrison broke the World Record for the women's 100 metres hurdles
with a time of 12.20 seconds, at the London Olympic Stadium. The occasion was the London Müller
Anniversary Games - a two day meeting to commemorate the 2012 London Olympic Games and one
of the Diamond League events of 2016.
She broke Yordanka Donkova's 1988 record of 12.21 seconds in the final, having already ran 12.40
in her semi final earlier in the same evening - the photo above.
In April she had recorded a time of 12.36 to go up to ninth on the all-time lists, followed in May,
at the Prefontaine Classic, with a time of 12.24 thus indicating the World Record was hers for the taking.
Amazingly in July she only finished 6th. in the 2016 U.S. Olympic trials for Rio and in 2015 was disqualified in the
semi finals at the 2015 Word Championships for a false start, leaving her yet to reach a major final.
