The main photo above shows LaShawn during the heats of the mens 400m at the 2007 World
Championships in Osaka. In the final itself, Merritt turned in a terrific performance to win the
silver medal in a new PB time of 43.96 secs. The inset picture shows the closing few metres of
the final, with LaShawn second from the right. Jeremy Wariner (centre of the photo) won the gold
and Angelo Taylor (far right) bronze, meaning the USA completed a clean sweep of the medals.
Merritt then teamed up with Wariner, Taylor and Darold Williamson to win gold for the USA in
the 4x400m relay (see below for pictures and further details).

The photo above shows LaShawn passing the baton over to Angelo Taylor after he had run the
opening leg for the USA in the final of the mens 4x400m at the 2007 World Championships in
Osaka. The USA strolled to an impressive and somewhat inevitable victory in a world leading
time for 2007 of 2.55.56.
