Ivan HESHKO - Ukraine - World & European Indoors 1500m champion.

The main photo above shows Ivan about to cross the line in the silver medal position in the

final of the men's 1500m at the 2006 European Championships in Gothenburg.

France's Mehdi Baala (337) won the gold, thus defending his title successfully and Spain's

Juan Carlos Higuero (245) took bronze. The inset picture shows Heshko shortly after the race.

Earlier that year he won the World Indoor Championships in Moscow, comfortably ahead of two

Kenyan runners, completing the 1500m in 3:42.08.

Ivan is pictured above (blue & yellow vest) in the closing straight of the final of the 1500m at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki. Disappointingly for the Ukranian he finished just outside the medals in fourth place in a time of 3: 38.71, thus narrowly failing to replicate his bronze medal performance at the previous World Championships in Paris. Ramzi Rashid (113), who is leading the way in the photo above, took the Gold, Adil Kaouch (631) the silver and Rui Silva (753) the bronze.     Photo 10th. August 2005 by G. Herringshaw. ©
