Andrew Strauss is pictured above during his magnificent knock of 129 in
England's 1st innings of the 5th Test against Australia at The Oval in
September 2005. Strauss's innings was the bedrock of England's total of
373 and, without his vital contribution, it is highly likely that
England would have lost the Test and drawn the series. As it was, they
were to secure the draw they needed to win the series 2-1, in what will
be remembered as one of the most thrilling Test series in cricket
history. It was the first time that England had won the Ashes since the
Mike Gatting led tour to Australia in 1986/87.
