Graham is pictured above during the 1st One Day International against India at Headingley, Leeds on 18th July 1990. Gooch chipped in with 45 from 75 balls as England totalled 229 all out from their 54.3 overs but the Indians went on to complete a 6 wicket victory. Graham enjoyed a truly remarkable series with the bat against the Indians that summer, scoring 752 runs at an average of 125.33. In the 1st Test at Lord's he made his highest ever Test score of 333 and then for good measure added 123 in the 2nd innings to help England to a 247 runs victory. His aggregate of 456 runs was a record for Test cricket, eclipsing the previous best of 380 (247 and 133) set by Greg Chappell for Australia against New Zealand in Wellington in 1973-74. It was also a new record for first class cricket in England, bettering the previous best of 446 set by Arthur Fagg for Kent (v Essex) in 1938.
