The main photo above shows Jimmy Anderson in full flow during his knock of 26 in England's 1st innings of the 1st Test against Australia at Cardiff in July 2009. The 2nd innings saw Anderson produce a match saving innings of 21 not out as he and number 11 Monty Panesar held the Australians at bay, the pair hanging on for 69 balls in a nailbiting finale. The inset picture shows Jimmy wiping his brow but the England number 10 handled the pressure admirably to ensure that England escaped with a vital draw, his rearguard action lasting 69 minutes during which he faced 53 balls. In doing so Anderson took his run of innings without a duck to exactly 50 but this remarkable run would finally come to an end in England's 1st innings of the 5th Test at The Oval, by which time Jimmy had posted a new England Test record of 54 innings without a 0. The previous England record was held by Geraint Jones who went 51 innings without a duck only to then bag a pair in his final Test !         Photos George Herringshaw.  ©
