Kevin is pictured above during his splendid knock of 142 in England's 1st innings of the 2nd Test against
Sri Lanka at Edgbaston, Birmingham in May 2006. It was a vital effort from Pietersen, his innings contributing
very nearly half of England's total of 295 in reply to Sri Lanka's disappointing 141. The Sri Lankans could
manage only 231 second time around and England went on to record a comfortable 6 wicket victory to go 1-0
ahead in the series, only for Sri Lanka to win the final Test at Trent Bridge and level the 3 match rubber
at 1-1. Kevin enjoyed a terrific series with the bat, his 360 runs coming at an average of 72.00.
