The batting photo above shows Kevin during his tremendous innings of 226 in the 2nd test against
the West Indies at Headingley, Leeds in May 2007. It was the first time that KP had reached the double
century milestone in his Test career and his efforts helped England rattle up an imposing total of 570-7
declared in just 122.3 overs (4.65 runs an over). Pietersen's 226 came off just 262 balls and included
a century of boundaries, with 24 fours and 2 sixes. Two lamentable batting performances from the Windies
saw them dismissed for 146 and 141 as England wrapped up a crushing innings & 283 run victory, the biggest
defeat in the history of West Indian Test cricket. England comfortably won the 4 match series 3-0 and
for Kevin, there was personal success as well, his 466 runs - the most by a batsman on either side -
coming at an average of 66.57.
