(Robin is pictured above during his superb innings of 103 of just 105 balls in the 2nd Texaco Trophy One Day International against India at Trent Bridge, Nottingham on 20th July 1990. Smith's knock helped England post 281 of their 55 overs but it was not enough for victory, the Indians winning by 5 wickets with 2 overs to spare. Robin enjoyed a magnificent Test series with the bat against the Indians that summer, scoring 361 runs in 6 innings with undefeated centuries at both Lord's and Old Trafford. Helped by 4 not outs Smith averaged a remarkable 180.50 !)
