Stuart Broad leaves the field at Trent Bridge having just taken 8
wickets for 15 runs in the demolition
of Australia. All out for just 60 runs in their first innings of the 4th
Test, Stuart's bowling figures were the best by an England
player since Jim Laker in the 1950s. England won the match by an innings
and 78 runs to regain the Ashes. Stuart also
became the fifth English bowler to take 300 Test wickets. The other
player is Joe Root who scored 130 in England's innings.
Stuart's five wickets in 19 balls were the fastest five wickets for a
Test opening bowler and joint fastest for any
Test bowler (joint with Ernie Toshack of Australia vs. India in 1947). |

Stuart Broad is pictured batting for England at Trent Bridge, Nottingham during the first "Ashes" Test Match of 2013.
On his home ground the all-rounder took 3 wickets but scored 24 and 65 with the bat, the latter the second highest
of England's second innings. England won the match on the afternoon of the fifth day by just 14 runs.

Stuart Broad is pictured above during his fine spell of 25.1-6-91-6 in Australia's 1st innings of the 4th Test at Headingley,
Leeds in August 2009. Broad also smashed a quickfire 61 in England's 2nd innings but he was about the only bright spot
in a poor England performance as Australia levelled the 5 match series at 1-1.
England did, however, bounce back to win
the final Test at The Oval to clinch the series 2-1, Stuart turning in an outstanding performance in Australia's 1st innings
to claim 5-37 in 12 overs and set England on the road to victory.
