Dinesh is pictured above during his splendid knock of 91 in India's 1st
innings of the 3rd Test against England at The Oval in August 2007.
Karthik's efforts helped the Indians run up a massive 1st innings score
of 664 but the match was to finish in a draw thanks to a gritty
performance from England in their 2nd innings.
It was India who took the
honours, though, courtesy of their victory in the 2nd Test at Trent
Bridge, thus securing only the third ever series win in England in their
history, the previous successes coming in 1971 & 1986. Karthik had
been expected to be a weak link in the India line-up given that he found
himself in the unusual position of opening the batting but his 6
innings produced 263 runs at an impressive average of 43.83.

It was then eight years before he played his next Test match, the 2018 series in England.
Those games have their own page.
