Mohsin KAMAL - Pakistan - Test Profile 1984-94

Mohsin Kamal is pictured above during his fine spell of 11-1-31-2 in the 1st Texaco Trophy

One Day International against England at Trent Bridge, Nottingham on 23rd May 1987.

Kamal's efforts helped restrict England to 157 all out in 51.1 overs and Pakistan went on to

record a comfortable 6 wicket victory.

Mohsin Kamal, a burly fast medium bowler with a long run, made his debut for Pakistan in the last match of a 1983-84 England series, on a flat wicket at his home ground in Lahore. In batting conditions he went for 66 in 15 overs, but did get England skipper David Gower out for 9. He had one more wicket, that of Graeme Fowler. Mohsin went to New Zealand in 1984-85, but did not play in another Test until Sri Lanka came to Sialkot in 1985-86, when he took 3-50, including Ranjan Madugalle for 0. He then toured Sri Lanka with Pakistan, taking 2-52 in Colombo. His only extended run with Pakistan was in England in 1987, when he played in four Tests. In the first at Old Trafford he took 4-127 and put Neil Fairbrother's Test aspirations on the downward slope by having him lbw for 0 in his first match.

At Lord's he took 1-42, followed by 3-22 and 1-19 at Headingley - nearly all tail-enders - before 0-122 out of England's 521 at Edgbaston. In the ODIs of 1987 he took 2-31 at Trent Bridge, when Pakistan won by six wickets and 2-47 in a narrow England victory at Edgbaston. In all first class matches on that tour he took 36 wickets at an average of 29.05. Mohsin played in the World Series on Pakistan's Australian tour of 1988-89, but came to grief on a fast wicket in Perth where he bowled too short. He toured Zimbabwe and Kenya with Pakistan B in 1986-87. In Pakistan's domestic cricket he played for Lahore on his debut in 1980-81 and later for Allied Bank. (Bob Harragan).
