(Alvin is pictured above during his knock of 37 in the West Indies 1st innings of the drawn 5th Test against England at Headingley, Leeds in August 1980. Alvin only got to bat twice in a match in the 1st Test at Trent Bridge, the Windies winning a thoroughly entertaining encounter by 2 wickets in what would prove to be the decisive result of the series, the infamous English weather badly affecting the next four Tests which all finished as draws.)
