The anguish on William's face is clear to see in the top right photo above. The picture was taken immediately after Liverpool

had been awarded a somewhat dubious penalty in the quarter-final 2nd leg tie at Anfield in the 2007/08 Champions League.

Steven Gerrard's successful spot-kick put Liverpool 3-2 ahead and on their way to victory, within a minute of Emmanuel Adebayor

scoring what had looked like the goal that would take the Gunners through to the semi-final stage. A late fourth goal by

Ryan Babel sealed the win for Liverpool and put paid to Arsenal's, and William's, hopes of lifting a first European Cup.
