John Robson is pictured above during the 0-0 draw against Ipswich Town.
Robson had to hang up his boots in 1978 when he was diagnosed as suffering
from the early stages of multiple sclerosis.
The ex-player then ran a newsagent’s in Erdington for a time, but his condition
worsened and he suffered psychological problems coping with the effects of the disease.
He died at a hospice in Sutton Coldfield on May 12, 2004.
