Fabrice Muamba is pictured above during Bolton wanderers F.A. Cup semi-final
against Stoke City.
On March 17th 2012 Fabrice suffered a cardiac arrest during the FA
Cup Quarter Final against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane. The
match (1-1 after 41 minutes) was abandoned by World Cup Final referee
Howard Webb and Fabrice was taken to hospital following extensive
treatment on the pitch, using CPR and a defibrillation. His condition
was reported as critical overnight but during the next few weeks he made
a full recovery. However, following medical advice, he announced his
retirement from professional football in August 2012. |
