Rodgers made his First Division debut on 23rd. October 1976
in a 1–3 defeat at Aston Villa, when he replaced the injured Merrick.
He followed in the footsteps of his father Arnold, who also made over
190 appearances for the Robins
After Rodgers finished playing he worked briefly as groundsman at
Bristol Grammar School before joining nearby Clifton College in January
1985 as the general manager of services.
