David joined Chelsea as an apprentice, signing professional forms in January 1976.
He made his debut in September 1978 and the former reserve team skipper went on
to play 32 league games during the 1978/79 campaign. He found himself out of the
side early in the following season and moved on to American team Memphis Rogues
in November 1979. David is pictured above during the 0-0 draw against Southampton.

David Stride died on 10th July 2016 aged 58 of a heart attack.
He ran a pub in his home town of Lymington in the New Forest.
