With a superb footballing pedigree that had seen him win virtually every honour in the game,Didier Deschamps arrived at Stamford Bridge in June 1999 looking to win yet more honours. It was not a moved that worked out, however, and the Frenchman was never able to reproduce the form in the English game that he had shown in France and Italy. After just one season at the Bridge he was on his way to Spain to join Valencia, for a fee of £2,300,000.
He is pictured above during the 1-0 defeat against Watford on 18/9/1999.
