With Coventry City short of attacking options manager Ron Atkinson splashed out £2 million
to bring Leeds United's promising young striker Noel Whelan to Highfield Road.
The Yorkshireman spent five years at the Sky Blues before joining Middlesbrough,
with City recouping the exact fee that they had paid to Leeds.
