Local lad Archie Styles joined Everton as an apprentice, signing
professional forms in the summer of 1967. Big things were expected of
the talented left back, who had won England caps at both schoolboy and
youth levels, but sadly he never fulfilled his great promise. He moved
to Birmingham City in February 1974 as part of the deal which saw Bob
Latchford move to Goodison, having made just 23 league appearances for
the Toffees. Archie is pictured above during the 1-1 draw against
Sheffield Utd. on 2/2/1974.
