Classy defender Colin Todd, whom many believed to be the finest British defender of his time,
joined Everton in September 1978 for a fee of £300,000 from Derby County. Colin never really
settled on Merseyside however, not helped by the fact that manager Gordon Lee played him
at full back, and he moved on to Birmingham City for £275,000 after just 1 year with the Toffees.
