Troubled by knee injuries, Norman Whiteside was, sadly for Evertonians, well past his best when he signed
for the Blues in July 1989. A World Cup star at just 17 in 1982 for Northern Ireland, big Norman was signed
by Colin Harvey from Manchester United for £600,000. In 1991, at the age of just 26, the injuries took their
toll and the Irishman was sadly forced to quit the game. Norman is pictured above during
the 1-0 defeat against Arsenal on 31/3/1990.
