Everton through-and-through, Steve McMahon joined the club as an
apprentice and was even a Goodison ball boy in his childhood days. He
established himself in the first team during the 1980/81 campaign and
the following season was voted by the fans as Player of the Year.
Hungry
for success that he felt his boyhood idols could not offer, Steve moved
on to Aston Villa in a £175 000 deal in May 1983, before upsetting the
Everton faithful with a move to Liverpool in 1985. He is pictured above
during the 2-0 defeat against Manchester City on 26/12/1980.
