Gary joined Leeds as a Youth Trainee and signed professional forms in June 1988. He established himself
in the first team during the 1989-90 season and went on to play a vital role in the First Division Championship
winning side of 1991/92.

Gary moved on to Everton in the summer of 1996 for a fee
of £3,500,000 after eight years at Elland Road.
