David Hopkin moved from Crystal Palace to Leeds United in July 1997 for a fee of £3.25m. His first couple of years at Elland Road were fairly successful but his third season saw him feature in just fourteen league games. He moved on to local rivals Bradford City for a then record fee for the Bantams of £2.5m.
