Mark Lawrenson became Liverpool's record signing when joining the club from Brighton in August 1981
for a fee of £900,000. His first season saw him playing in a variety of positions but injury to Phil Thompson
saw Mark link up with Alan Hansen at the heart of the Reds defence during the 1982/83 campaign and
the duo went on to form one of the great centre-half pairings in British football history.
