With the decent scoring record of 13 goals in 33 league games for
Manchester United (7 of which were as a sub) it is something of a
mystery why Andy Ritchie found his opportunities so limited at Old
Trafford. The 1978/79 season saw Andy net the fine return of 10 goals in
17 league games, including a superb hat-trick against Leeds United in
March '79. The following two seasons saw him unable to hold down a
regular place, however, and he moved to the South Coast with Brighton in
a £500, 000 deal in October 1980. Andy is pictured above during the 0-0
draw against Coventry on 16/4/1979. |
