Mark Higgins was forced into early retirement in 1984 and missed out on the
highly successful spell enjoyed by Everton in the mid-late 80s.
He made a comeback 18 months later, however and was snapped up by United manager
Ron Atkinson for a fee of £60, 000. It was a short-lived return though and
he featured in just 6 first team games for the Red Devils before being sold to Bury by
new United boss Alex Ferguson for a fee of just £10,000.
It was a fine piece of business for Bury who subsequently sold Higgins
Higgins to Stoke City for £150,000.
He is pictured above during the 2-0 defeat against West Ham on
9th. March 1986 in the 5th round replay of the F.A. Cup.
