Croatian international Silvio Maric was brought to St. James's Park by Ruud Gullit for £3,5m.
in February 1999. He was a player with a big reputation but his stay on Tyneside proved to be
a huge disappointment and he left the club at the end of the 1999-2000 season, with a £2 million
