Rob is pictured above during the 0-0 draw against Coventry City.
Rob Hindmarch made his first team bow at just 16 years of age in January 1978,
before establishing himself in the side during the 1979/80 season. He was surprisingly
allowed to join Derby County on a free transfer in July 1984 having made
115 league appearances for Sunderland.
He captained Sunderland at the aged of 19 and made a total of 125 appearances
for the club between 1977 and 1984.
