Evans was (wrongly) convicted of rape in April 2012 and sentenced to five years in prison.
He was released on licence in October 2014. His conviction was quashed on 21 April 2016
by the Court of Appeal and a retrial was ordered. On 14 October 2016, he was found not guilty.
In 2016, prior to the retrial, he joined Chesterfield, for whom he played 25 League games
scoring 5 goals. In 2017 he rejoined The Blades.
