Alex Rae moved to Roker Park from Millwall in the summer of 1996, manager Peter Reid paying £1 million
for the services of the tough-tackling midfielder. He spent just over five years on Wearside, scoring
12 goals in 114 league appearances, before a £1, 200, 000 switch to Wolves in September 2001.
