Derek Ferguson arrived at Roker Park from Hearts in the summer of 1993 for a fee of £460,000,
plus John Colquhoun moving in the opposite direction. Sunderland manager Terry Butcher knew all
about the talents of the Scottish international having played alongside him during his time at Rangers.
Derek made a total of 75 appearances in all competitions during his time on Wearside before
returning to Scotland, with a £150,000 move to Falkirk, in September 1995. He is pictured above
during the 0-0 draw against Birmingham City on January 1994.
