Jim Holton initially moved to Sunderland on loan in September 1976 before joining in a permanent £40,000
deal the following month. Holton had impressed during his time with Manchester United before,
unfortunately, twice breaking a leg and he came to Roker Park following a spell in America with Miami Toros.
It proved to be a short stay for Jim on Wearside and he moved on to Coventry City in March 1977
after just 15 league games for the club. He is pictured above during the 2-0 defeat against
Birmingham City on 11/12/1976.
