Despite being a regular scorer for Sunderland at youth level, John Cooke was never able to
reproduce this form at the higher level. He moved on to Sheffield Wednesday in June 1985
having made a total of 62 appearances in all competitions for the Black Cats, scoring 5 goals.
John is pictured above during the 1-0 defeat against Aston Villa on 29th August 1983.
