He retired from football aged 24 to put his qualifications and other skills to good use.
He got a six-month contract as an assistant farm manager in Kent, working for a man
from Malvern who he had known at Wolves.The farm was owned by Shepherd Neame,
the brewery, with whom he worked for 31 years and then as a warehouse manager in
the brewing industry.
