Lee WESTWOOD - England - 2010 Ryder Cup (P4, W2, H1, L1)

The main photo above shows Lee Westwood celebrating after holing a monster 40 foot birdie putt at the 10th hole of the 'Session 3' foursomes in the 2010 Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor. Westwood was playing in partnership with Luke Donald and the pair played some sublime golf to complete a 6&5 annihilation of top rated American pair Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker. Such was the quality of their play that the pair were four under par when the match ended after just 13 holes - a terrific effort in foursomes golf. A masterstroke then by captain Montgomerie to pair these two Englishman together - never before had they joined forces in Ryder Cup golf but one imagines it might not be the last time! The bottom right picture shows Lee sending his putt on it's way at the 10th whilst the bottom left image also shows him during the foursomes. The top left photo shows Westwood with playing partner Martin Kaymer during the opening day four-balls; the pair teaming up well to enjoy a comfortable 3&2 success over Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson. The same pairing then halved their 'Session 2' foursomes match with Jim Furyk and Rickie Fowler - the American youngster Fowler snatching a half for the Americans with a putt for birdie 4 at the last after they had trailed from the 2nd hole onwards. The last day singles would prove to be one match too far for Lee - who was playing his first competitive golf in a month due to a persistent calf injury - with the doughty Steve Stricker completing a 2&1 success. In the end though it matter not; Graeme McDowell's heroics in that most dramatic of denouements claiming the cup for Europe by the narrowest of margins.
