(Martin became the first German to win the BMW International Open on home
soil when he shot a birdie 4 on the first extra hole in a play-off with
Anders Hansen. Kaymer had played superbly for the first three rounds to
stand 6 shots clear going into the final day but a disappointing closing
75 saw him finish all square with Hansen. A disastrous triple bogey 8 on
the 11th seemed to have cost Martin his chance of victory but the young
German bounced back with three birdies including one on the last to force
the play-off.)
